Kevin Smith is keeping his eager fans in the know about the behind-the-scenes progress of the long-awaited View Askewniverse sequel, Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, with another entry into his online production diaries, which can be viewed in the player below!

In the first two chapters of the diaries, Smith offered a look at the tech scouting he and the crew were undergoing for locations such as Mooby’s, which, though interesting for film buffs curious about the production process, is not quite as interesting as what the third chapter of the diaries has to offer.

The third part sees Smith bringing his fans back to the mall, home of the second film in the franchise Mallrats, and back to Brodie’s Secret Stash, a comic book store owned by the titular slacker from the film and from the duo’s previous adventure Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. Smith gives audiences a look around as crew set up the store, including a shrine to comic book icon Stan Lee, who appeared in Mallrats as himself and was originally set to appear in Reboot before his passing in November.

The 48-year-old filmmaker also takes the time to thank his crew for the work they’ve put in so far and ruminate on the path he’s taken to get this film made following his heart attack in February 2018 that opened his eyes to many things in his life, including the desire to get this story on screen.

Smith and Jason Mewes are reprising their title roles alongside other stars (and new faces) from the original film. Jay (Mewes) and Silent Bob (Smith) were first introduced 25 years ago in Smith’s directorial debut, Clerks, and continued to appear in Smith’s cinematic canon including Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and Clerks II, as well as the animated film Jay and Silent Bob’s Super Groovy Cartoon Movie. The new m`ovie will take jabs at reboots, remakes, and sequels while simultaneously being all three at the same time.

Saban Films is planning to release the sequel theatrically and production is currently underway. Universal Pictures Home Entertainment Content Group acquired all foreign rights to the movie. Jordan Monsanto of Smodco is producing alongside Liz Destro for Destro Film.
