San Diego’s Obnoxious has released his brand new single and music video for “Starstruck” online. The C-Lance (Snow Tha Product, Merkules) and Aaron Hiltz (Madchild) produced track is accompanied by the bittersweet video directed by the recently deceased Kali Oso. The director and close friend of Obnoxious, Kali Oso tragically passed away in May from a drug overdose. Kali Oso who was a key figure and go-to director in San Diego’s hip-hop scene who was best known for his work with Prayers, Lil Grifo, Mitchy Slick, and Kat Von D. Oso’s untimely death was a shock to the hip-hop community. While his friends and family continue to spread his works and legacy they also want his passing to be a lesson for everyone.

“It crazy; we shot this video for Starstruck in the same cemetery that Oso is now buried in. It was hard for me to even come to the place where I decided to put this video out. But after talking to everyone that is close to him I decided to do it. He was my friend and brother. He was very proud of this video and it’s part of his legacy,” commented Obnoxious. “He would want it out and ultimately I want people to know his story and realize some of this shit on the streets isn’t what you might think it is. Maybe one person steps back from making the wrong decision Oso made and in some weird way he helps save someone from a similar fate. Oso was like that in life and always helped people so maybe even with his tragic death his story helps someone make the correct decision.”

Obnoxious continues, “Oso wasn’t a party dude. He was a worker. It’s crazy as he had just finished a video we were working on and decided to go out one night and celebrate his birthday. One bad decision and our brother is now gone forever. This man gave back to everyone around him and helped out everyone in the Dago scene. If a young rapper couldn’t afford the budget Oso was the kinda guy that would just do the video and come out of pocket. He wanted everyone to win and always put others first.”

The tragic and untimely passing of his friend and video collaborator at first made Obnoxious pause on recording and doing videos. But after a short period of reflection, it made him even more dedicated to his craft. Since signing with Suburban Noize Records and rolling out a series of solo joints in the form of ‘Killshot’, ‘Jack Move’, ‘Superstitious’, and ‘OB Style’, Obnoxious has been finalizing his first studio record that will feature guest spots and production from some of hip-hop’s elite.

“When Oso passed it made me take a step back to reflect. I have been steadily building this record for a year. Every time I think I’m done I get another opportunity to work with an incredible producer or emcee and it’s gradually taken me to a place of not wanting to rush out my record. I want to build a masterpiece for true hip-hop heads and Oso was always on my side and told me I could help establish Diego as a strong hip-hop city. We have so many great artists here but as people started hearing my stuff and I got connected with folks from the East and West more crazy collabs and opportunities flooded in. I’m not ready to start dropping names on who I have worked with for this record just yet. But I know people will trip and so do I when I think about it. Oso would always say to me, ‘All in due time OB. You are creating a masterpiece, don’t rush.’ Oso always had a perspective on things and when someone like Rakaa from Dilated Peoples decides to bless you with bars you take a step back and evaluate the entire body of work. Rakaa was one of our favorite emcees from the West Coast. The list is long of who I have collaborated with now I decided not to rush it and each time it made me step my game up and realize it’s not done until it’s done. Oso helped me get in that mind-frame and in life and death he continues to help me and others. RIP Homeboy!!!”

Since re-launching the legendary California independent label after a 7-year hiatus, Suburban Noize Records emerged and has been consistently dropping music with some of the new signings and the label’s veteran artists. Now the label has assembled a posse cut entitled “Everyday” produced by Godsynth that pairs up the entire Suburban Noize roster all together on one track including the King Klick, (Hed) P.E, Madchild, Whitney Peyton, and Dropout Kings. The track features the Suburban Noize roster over a distorted guitar riff that brings together the battle tested veterans and new blood of the next generation for one epic rap-rock crossover track. The song is a call-to-arms for anyone that has had to overcome adversity and a helping hand to raise up anyone that has fallen on hard times.
“After the success of the release like (Hed) P.E and King Klick’s ‘We Want It All’, we felt like everyone was talking about Suburban Noize again, so we knew we had to follow that up with something even bigger,” commented Kevin Zinger from Suburban Noize. “Whitney came to us with this Godsynth beat and her part. When we circulated it around everyone wanted to jump on it. Suburban Noize was a label at the forefront of mixing together all genres and coloring outside of the genre lines from rock and metal, Punk to hip-hop. An entire wave of new bands are popping up and blending genres like we did 20 years ago. It was time to bring Sub Noize back and the label has found its place again with some new and OG artists. Posse cuts aren’t as common as they were but I still think it shows unity and is a special thing. It made perfect sense to create one big blockbuster crossover track with everyone on it.”

Proving that she could go head-to-head with any of the hip-hop heavyweights on her Suburban Noize debut “Alpha”, Whitney Peyton has remained on the grind dropping new tracks. She recently flexed her impressive lyrical prowess “Give It Gas” featuring Dizzy Wright and Strange Music’s own King Iso.

The King Klick is the latest powerhouse collective to come back under the Suburban Noize banner. Comprised of label veterans Johnny Richter (Kottonmouth Kings) and Chucky Chuck and joined by Obnoxious (AKA OB-NOX), the unison created the perfect blend of THC-infused raps. United together under the name King Klick, Johnny Richter, Chucky Chuck, and Obnoxious are currently finishing the debut effort from The King Klick for release later this year. The trio have already recorded tracks with Madchild, Whitney Peyton, (Hed) P.E, Lil Saint, and other members of the extended Suburban Noize family.

In between hopping on tracks with the other members of the Suburban Noize roster, legendary SoCal artists (HED) P.E. are building towards the release of their upcoming new album “Sandmine”, which is set for release on July 23rd, 2021 via Suburban Noize Records. The album is a potent mixture of poignant punk-rock, metal, Rap, brutal riffs, and bludgeoning drums that pack a walloping punch and goes back to the classic HED PE sound.

Madchild’s independent grind is unparalleled and he’s remained one of the underground’s vital voices, consistently dropping new projects with Tom MacDonald, as well as solo albums like “Demons” and “Little Monster”. Madchild is also currently working on a new joint project with Obnoxious for release later this year.

Phoenix-based trap metal outfit DROPOUT KINGS have hit the ground running since releasing their “GlitchGang” EP. The band is currently charting on active rock radio with their new single “Virus” and will be heading out on the road supporting (Hed) P.E this summer.
