Supergirl Crisis on Infinite Earths Episode 1 Recap

The CW’s Crisis on Infinite Earths, this season’s Arrowverse crossover, is here, and we’ll be recapping each episode of the event, starting with the first episode on Supergirl. In Supergirl Crisis on Infinite Earths Episode 1, Lyla, as the Harbinger, gathered the heroes in National City on Earth-38 as the crimson skies descended upon different Earths in the multiverse.

The Crisis Is Here

While the different heroes worked in their own cities and Earths, Lyla, now the Harbinger, appeared to them and brought them to the D.E.O. in National City on Earth-38. The Monitor considered this Earth as turning point in the fight against the Anti-Monitor and his antimatter wave that was tearing through the multiverse and approaching them. The Harbinger saved Lois Lane and Clark Kent from Argo City’s destruction on Krypton, but Kara’s mother, Alura, didn’t survive. They had sent Jonathan off in an escape pod, that Brainy was tracking.

Kara, J’onn, and Alex had a plan, but they needed Lena Luthor’s help. They were asking aliens for use of their ships to evacuate as many people as possible. Alex went to Lena to create a portal twice as large as the one she had created. While Lena could never trust them again, she was willing to help save the multiverse. With everyone fighting off the Anti-Monitor’s armies and Kara and Clark using their vision to charge the solar panels on the tower, they were able to save 3 billion people by transporting them to Earth 1.

The Search for Jonathan

Supergirl Crisis on Infinite Earths Episode 1 Recap

Brainy tracked Jonathan’s pod through a wormhole in Star City on Earth-16 in 2046. He accompanied Sara Lance and Lois Lane as they searched for Jonathan. This older version of Oliver had found Jonathan and attacked Sara. He stopped when he realized who she was. On this Earth, Sara had never come back for him on Lian Yu, and Oliver had believed her to be dead this whole time. He regretted bringing her on the boat, but Sara reassured him that none of the good things in their lives wouldn’t have happened if he hadn’t. Lois found Jonathan, and Brainy insisted that they needed to leave right away.

The Sacrifice of Oliver Queen

Supergirl Crisis on Infinite Earths Episode 1 Recap

Lyla had found Oliver and Mia on Lian Yu. He was teaching her about how the island had made him who he was. When they arrived at the D.E.O., Oliver presented Mia with her own Green Arrow outfit.

Barry told Oliver that the Monitor had told him that he needed to die. Furious, he demanded to speak with the Monitor about their deal.

As the ships were leaving for Earth 1, the Monitor was transporting the heroes away from the fighting. Oliver asked if everyone on Earth had been evacuated. When the Monitor confirmed there were still people needing saving, Oliver disabled the Monitor, preventing him from transporting Oliver, the last one remaining. When the Monitor was finally able to bring him to Star City on Earth 1, Oliver was dying. The Monitor calculated an extra billion people that had been saved. Oliver revealed that he sacrificed himself to save Barry and Kara and then died. However, the Monitor hadn’t foreseen him dying in this way at this time.
