Sam Raimi returning to horror for Columbia Pictures

The world has suffered without Sam Raimi horror… but that suffering ends now! According to Deadline, the legendary director is returning to his terrifying roots once more to direct a yet-to-be-titled horror film for Columbia Pictures. Details on the film’s plot are pretty thin, but it is said to be a thriller set on an island.

The last time Raimi tackled the genre we received the very underrated Drag Me to Hell (which is a movie you should definitely check out this Halloween season), so let the excitement begin!

Raimi will direct from a script by Mark Swift and Damian Shannon, who previously worked on 2009’s Friday the 13th reboot, as well as AGBO Films’ A Christmas Carol and Legendary’s The Good, the Evil & the Undead.

Raimi has spent the last few years producing a number of projects, including the recent thriller Crawl and the TV series Ash vs. Evil Dead. Surprisingly, he hasn’t directed a movie since 2013’s Oz the Great and Powerful. For those unaware, Raimi directed the classic horror films include Evil DeadEvil Dead 2Army of Darkness and Darkman. He also helmed the original three Spider-Man films for Columbia Pictures.
