Walt Disney Studios has big plans for its upcoming movies, and it has announced its upcoming slate including films from Lucasfilm, Marvel and Fox, which it recently acquired. Some of the release dates have changed along with some newly added films like Fox’s New Mutants and the Avatar sequels. The announcement of the release dates go far into 2027 with Avatar 5, and in between are dates for the new Indiana Jones movie and a bunch of untitled films from Lucasfilm, Marvel Studios, Pixar, Disney Live Action and Walt Disney Animation Studios.
With Avengers: Endgame making Disney a lot of money, here’s what’s next for this year. Disney’s Aladdin is coming on May 24, Fox’s Dark Phoenix on June 7, Pixar’s Toy Story 4 on June 21, Fox’s Stuber on July 12 and Disney’s The Liong King on July 19.
Fox’s New Mutants was supposed to come out this year, but it has been pushed back yet again for an April 3, 2020 release date. Other 2020 movies include the new Kingsman movie on February 14, Pixar’s Onward on March 6, and Disney’s Mulan on March 27.
Disney and Fox already have Avatar planned all the way up until 2027. Avatar 2 is coming out on December 17, 2021; Avatar 3 on December 22, 2023; Avatar 4 on December 19, 2025; Avatar 4 on December 17, 2027.
Star Wars fans should be excited about the next phase of the franchise with three untitled Star Wars films on December 16, 2022; December 20, 2024; and December 18, 2026.
Marvel Studios has been quiet about the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but we do know it’s working on a solo Black Widow film, The Eternals, and Shang-Chi. Once James Gunn is finished with WB and DC’s The Suicide Squad sequel, he’ll be headed back to helm Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. (Here’s hoping it’s called Asgardians of the Galaxy.) We’re not sure which film will have which release date, but the dates for the untitled Marvel films are May 1, 2020; November 6, 2020; February 12, 2021; May 7, 2021; November 5, 2021; February 18, 2022, May 6, 2022; and July 29, 2022. The Spider-Man films have been known to be released in July, so we’re going to guess that the third Spider-Man film may have that slot.
