Pokémon: Detective Pikachu has finished its second weekend in theaters, and it has already grossed $292 million at the global box office. The first live-action Pokémon film stars Ryan Reynolds as Detective Pikachu and Justice Smith as Tim, and together, they must solve the mystery behind the disappearance of Tim’s father. With a new movie out, that means fans and Pokémon TCG collectors will get new Pokémon Trading Card Games products inspired by the film. The film is directed by Rob Letterman (Goosebumps, Monsters Vs. It stars Justice Smith (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) as Tim, Kathryn Newton (Lady Bird, Big Little Lies) as Lucy, Suki Waterhouse (Insurgent), Omar Chaparro (Overboard), Chris Geere (Modern Family), Ken Watanabe (Godzilla: King of the Monsters, The Last Samurai) and Bill Nighy (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest).
The movie is based on the popular Pokémon franchise that spawned video games, trading card games, toys, and anime television series and animated movies. Pokémon Go, the AR game where you can catch Pokémon by venturing out into the real world, became a global phenomenon.
