Jeff Wadlow to direct film adaptation of comic book series Danger Girl
The film adaptation of the comic book Danger Girl has found its director, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Jeff Wadlow is slated to helm the movie for Constantin Film. He will also contribute to the script, originally written by Umair Aleem—whose only credit to date is 2015’s Extraction, starring Bruce Willis and Kellan Lutz.
Wadlow is most frequently recognized for his work on another comic book adaptation, Kick-Ass 2 starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Chloe Grace Moretz and Jim Carrey. He took over the franchise from Matthew Vaughn, the director of the first Kick-Ass film, as well as Stardust, X-Men: First Class and Kingsman: the Secret Service (2014).
Wadlow’s other directorial projects include the 2016 Netflix film True Memoirs of an International Assassin starring Kevin James and Andy Garcia and the Blumhouse production Truth or Dare (2018) which stars Lucy Hale. Wadlow will be teaming with Blumhouse once again for an adaptation of the television series Fantasy Island which ran from 1977 to 1984. The film is expected to hit theaters next year.
The Danger Girl series, which began in the late 1990s, takes influence from Indiana Jones and Charlie’s Angels and blends espionage, supernatural artifacts and exotic locales. Abbey Chase, Sydney Savage and Natalia Kassle are teammates and members of a secret agency sworn to protect powerful relics from reaching the wrong hands. Who will play Danger Girl’s respective lead characters is not yet known, but the prospect of another female-driven blockbuster is likely to excite many moviegoers.
