Runaways Season 2 Episode 8 Recap

Runaways season 2 episode 8 gives us some insight into Jonah’s solitary life waiting for Earth’s technology to reach a point where he could free his ship. Previously, the being of light jumped from one body to another when the physical form was used up, until he founded the Church. After Jonah’s demise, Karolina is desperate to find anything she can about her father. Karolina goes through Jonah’s old office at the Church, where she finds an audio recording device that Jonah left for her. While it took sacrifices, Jonah kept his final form after Karolina was born in order to always be her father. The recording tells Karolina that she has a bigger destiny awaiting her.

PRIDE

The adults celebrate Jonah’s death. Robert worries about Nico having to live with the burden of having killed. The rest agree to find their children, dissolve PRIDE, and go their separate ways. For Leslie, that means disbanding the Church as well, telling Frank that it was all founded on the lies that Jonah told her father decades ago. Frank, however, has never had such a large, rapt audience and refuses to let it go. He tells Leslie about accidentally killing Oscar. When Leslie calls Flores to dispose of the body, Frank hides and gets photos of Leslie with the body in the trunk of the car and her paying Flores to make it go away. Frank reveals the photos to Aura and Frances in order to gain them to his side over Leslie.

Flores and AWOL alert Catherine that Livvie has video evidence clearing Darius in Destiny’s murder. Catherine orders the pair of corrupt cops to send Livvie a warning. AWOL shoots up Tamar’s car when she and Livvie are leaving the hospital with baby Xerxes. Geoffrey visits Tamar and brings her the money from his deal with Darius. Tamar says this doesn’t square them, but is a good start to her own empire.

Alex visits Livvie with a plan to prove that Geoffrey was responsible for Darius’s murder when AWOL opens fire. Alex introduces Livvie to the rest of the team, minus Karolina, and the group breaks into the hotel where Darius was killed in order to pull security footage proving that Geoffrey was Darius’s killer. While Alex is hacking the footage from the penthouse, Chase discovers that Gert is planning to apply to a college on the east coast without telling him. Nico and Molly take a walk, where Nico says that she doesn’t think she’s the right person to possess the staff and the power it holds.

Hotel staff calls the police on the kids in the penthouse and the security team gives chase. Molly stays behind and gets caught in order for the others to get away. Security locks her in the basement, where Molly breaks her handcuffs and starts to leave, as planned. But before she can get away, Flores and AWOL arrive with the rest of the corrupt cops on PRIDE’s payroll.
