Heathers TV series to air on the Paramount Network, after some edits

The highly controversial TV series based on the 1988 dark teen comedy Heathers will actually get a chance to be seen by audiences. Well, most of it, anyway. According to Collider, the Paramount Network has agreed to air the series during a five-night marathon starting October 25 — but only after the most controversial scenes were edited out.

Paramount, who produced the series, initially scrapped the show and were searching for other buyers. Once that fell flat, the buzz about just how bad their reboot was led them to air the series over a five-night run. If the ratings are good enough, Heathers could even get a second season with an all-new cast, remaking the overall show as a kind of dark teen anthology.

Heathers stars Grace Victoria Cox as Veronica Sawyer, James Scully as JD, Melanie Field as Heather Chandler, Brendan Scannell as Heather Duke, and Jasmine Mathews as Heather McNamara. Original film cast member Shannen Doherty will appear, as well as Selma Blair. The hour-long pitch-black reboot is set in the present day, as heroine Veronica deals with a very different but equally vicious group of ‘Heathers.’

You can see what all the fuss is about yourself when the Heathers marathon kicks off on October 25.
