In the previous episode of BoJack Horseman, Yolanda came out to her parents as asexual, and broke up with Todd, while BoJack grew closer to friendship with his co-star, Gina. Don’t Call It A Comeback
A female police officer pulled over and arrested Vance Waggoner, a movie star, during the arrest he sexually harassed the officer and stated that he ‘hates Jews’. We see many other horrible things that Vance had done throughout his career. Five years later, Flip is seeking a dangerous man for the role of BoJack’s partner. Princess Carolyn pitches Vance Waggoner for this role.
At BoJack’s restaurant, Princess Carolyn pitched the role to Vance, and he accepted it. Diane’s boss sent Diane to work the forgiveness awards where Vance was receiving the lifetime ‘we forgive you’ awards. At the award show, Princess Carolyn informed Mr. Peanutbutter, who was emceeing the event, the bad news that he didn’t get the role in an upcoming film he had auditioned for. Diane questioned BoJack and Princess Carolyn about casting Vance in the show.
Running With It
BoJack was photographed making a disgusted face at the award show. The news shows believed that BoJack was refusing to forgive Vance and made a sensation out of it. Vance was very angry with both BoJack and Princess Carolyn. Carolyn got BoJack to agree to go on television and explain his facial expression. Mr. Peanutbutter went and visited Todd at his work He asked Todd to help him act tougher. BoJack went on television and accidentally took a stand against Vance’s previous actions. Carolyn expressed her displeasure over BoJack’s actions.
Vance pulled out of the show, this angered Princess Carolyn and she got on board with BoJack’s newfound feminism. Carolyn called in Diane and asked her to write talking points for BoJack to recite. Mr. Peanutbutter attempted to act tough but inadvertently helped a man quir smoking. Diane gave BoJack a lesson on how to manipulate the media cycle for his own gain. BoJack didn’t seem to grasp the concept fully.
Counteraction
Vance held a press conference where he announced that he pulled out of BoJack’s show over the anti-feminist messages in the show. BoJack was then confronted by a news anchor over these new accusations. BoJack sought out Diane’s advice over the script of ‘Philbert’. Diane pointed out that Vance was entirely accurate with his critiques of the show. BoJack then went on a radio show and realized that Diane was correct about the show. He quickly ran back to Diane’s apartment and asked her to help re-write the scripts to be more female-friendly. Princess Carolyn and Flip discussed a new actor to play BoJack’s partner, they settled on Mr. Peanutbutter.
