American Horror Story: Apocalypse Episode 5 Recap
In the previous episode of American Horror Story: Apocalypse, Michael Langdon’s past was revealed. He had surprising connections to Cordelia Goode as well as the Hotel Cortez. What does this next installment have in store? Let’s find out as we recap American Horror Story: Apocalypse episode 5 ‘The Boy Wonder!’
Administering The Test
Still in the past, Cordelia Goode awoke outside the decrepit ruins of Miss Robichaux’s Academy (the school she ran in Coven). She was immediately attacked by a group of radiated zombies. She regained consciousness and realized that was a vision. Cordelia immediately hugged Queeny and Madison after learning of their return to realm of the living. Cordelia told the warlocks and Michael about the vision she had and that she feared it was the future. She decided to administer the test of the Seven Wonders to Michael, and he agreed to partake in it. Michael was told that he would be the first male to ever attempt the test, and if he passed he would become the next Supreme and likely surpass even her powers.
Dissent Amongst the Ranks
After they returned to Miss Robichaux’s Academy, Myrtle expressed her anger at Cordelia for allowing Michael to take the test. She then questioned Cordelia about the identity of her successor. Myrtle thought that Mallory would be a suitable successor as Supreme, as she had resurrected a dead deer, something Myrtle had never seen before. Cordelia informed Myrtle that she was dying and did not have time to wait for a new female successor. Coco arrived at the Academy and expressed that she felt she did not have enough power to warrant attending the Academy, but Cordelia admitted her anyway. Mallory was assigned to show Coco around the school.
A Blessing In Disguise
The warlocks blessed Michael to protect him during his upcoming test. John Henry expressed his concerns over Michael being a demon and attempted to leave the warlock academy. John Henry left for New Orleans, and stopped at a gas station to refill his car. At the station, he was attacked and killed by Michael’s foster mother. Michael passed the first six Wonders, but Coredlia asked him to rescue Misty Day, from the netherworld, to pass the seventh. Ariel confronted Cordelia over this change of standards, but Cordelia managed to convince him to go through with her request.
Don’t Call It A Comeback
Michael successfully returned Misty Day to the realm of the living, and Michael was declared the new Supreme. Cordelia’s powers and lifeforce quickly began to fade as there can only be one Supreme in existence at a time. Misty told Cordelia and Myrtle about the disturbing things she witnessed Michael do in the netherworld. Cordelia revealed that she had not tested Michael as the next Supreme, but as a test to see the true power he possesses. Misty refused to join Cordelia in the upcoming battle. Cordelia sent Madison on a mission to the Murder House to learn more about Michael Langdon.
