The Purge Season 1 Episode 4 Recap

In the previous episode of The Purge; Miguel caught up to the suicide bus just as Penelope was taken hostage. Rick and Jenna secured funding for their housing project and one of Jane’s employees killed someone. What does this fourth installment have in store? Let’s find out, as we recap The Purge season 1 episode 4 ‘Release The Beast!’

Rick and Jenna

The Purge Season 1 Episode 4

Jenna was finding emotional comfort in the arms of Lila, after observing the killing in the previous episode. The pair reminisced about how they first connected over their shared hatred of Lila’s father’s political philosophy. Lila managed to convince Jenna to go through with the deal, regardless of the killing. Lila also proposed a three-person relationship model to Jenna, but Jenna was not on board with the idea. Jenna and Lila reunited with Rick, he immediately accused Jenna of cheating on him. Lila and Rick exchanged barbs for a while, before Jenna stepped in and diffused the situation.

Miguel

The Purge Season 1 Episode 4

Miguel returned to Pete’s bar and told him about the nuns. Pete agreed to tell Miguel where the nuns had likely taken Penelope. Pete introduced Miguel to Rex, who would lead Miguel to the nuns. Rex told him about the carnival set-up and that Penelope was likely there. Rex agreed to get Miguel into the carnival, but Miguel would have to get himself out. Miguel was driven to the carnival by Rex. Miguel and Rex continued their journey towards the carnival, but Miguel learned that Rex is a collector. Rex had taken a person prisoner and was delivering them to the carnival to participate in the auction.

Jane

The Purge Season 1 Episode 4

Jane was very angry with Allison for killing Mark. Allison quickly revealed that she knew about Jane’s plan to kill her boss. Jane called the assassin she had hired and begged them not to kill her boss, but she couldn’t reach the assassin over the phone. Jane broke down into tears. She armed herself with a claw hammer and ventured out into the lawless night. Jane began the journey to her boss’ home, she was easily frightened by every noise she heard in her surroundings. Jane was attacked by a man who attempted to rape her, but a roving van full of women wielding assault rifles pulled up in time to save her. She was introduced to the Matron Saints, a group of women who patrol the streets stopping men from raping or killing women.

Penelope

The Purge Season 1 Episode 4

Penelope had been taken to a carnival/museum set-up, showing off various methods to kill people. She was brought to a section of the carnival that functioned as an auction house. Penelope was told that people would pay money for her and then kill her however they wanted. She was taken up on stage and auctioned off. Penelope was sold for $2000 to Henry, a man from her past.
