Disenchantment Season 1 Episode 3 Recap
In the previous episode of Netflix’s Disenchantment; Bean got rid of her fiancé, Merkimer as he was turned into a pig. What does the third episode of season 1 have in store? Let’s find out, as we dive into Disenchantment Season 1 episode 3 ‘The Princess of Darkness.”
Big Time Drugs Lead To Big Time Crime
Bean, Elfo, and Luci, after a night of strong drinking, stole a carriage and were chased down by a group of police donkeys. The group evaded police capture by jumping over a washed out bridge, unfortunately the carriage did not survive the jump. Later, it was revealed that Queen Oona (Bean’s stepmother) has a special drug she takes known as snakeroot. Bean and company decided to steal some of this snakeroot to try for themselves.
While high, the group went out around town and engaged in more criminal activities. Elfo boxed a chicken, the group took suits of armor from the castle guards, and they stole liquor from a local convenience store. They were then intercepted by a street gang, whom Bean convinced to rob the royal crypts. The group went to the royal crypts and Bean stole all of the jewelry before the gang betrayed them. The gang kicked the rope into the crypt and left them trapped underground.
Exorcism O’Clock!
Bean was arrested and presented to King Zog as a criminal, Zog banished her to her bedroom. Zog and his council reconvened to decide a new course of action in regards to Bean’s misbehavior. They eventually concluded that Bean must be possessed by a demon.
Sorcerio, attempted to get rid of the demon in a myriad of ways. He tried to smoke the demon out, suck it out with magnets and shook Bean violently. None of that worked, so Zog reached out to the best exorcist in all of the land, Big Jo. When he arrived at the castle, Big Jo freaked out the king’s court and immediately set to work exorcising Bean’s demon. After a series of failed attempts, Big Jo managed to capture Luci.
Demon Disposal Techniques
Bean and Elfo attempted to have fun on their own, but without Luci, they couldn’t make it more than a few minutes. They decided to go set Luci free. Bean and Elfo found Big Jo throwing the demons into a volcano. Big Jo was about to throw Luci into the fire, when Bean managed to jump and catch the bottle holding Luci. Bean and Big Jo then had a standoff on the rickety bridge. He tried to force her to give up Luci’s life in exchange for Elfo’s safety.
Bean managed to come up with another clever plan, she threw the sword back to Big Jo which sliced his arm off, freeing Elfo. Elfo then pushed Big Jo off the bridge and into the volcano, killing him. Bean and Elfo set Luci free. Just outside of the center of the volcano, Big Jo’s wagon rolled off the side of the mountain and broke apart, which freed the thirty-plus demons that were still trapped inside.
