InDemand was looking for $80k to bring their SwitchCharge battery case to Switch. The campaign ended up bringing in $400k, making it clear that Switch owners really believed in the product. Sadly, as soon as the funding campaign came to and end, problems started to amass. Here we are over a year later, and the large majority of backers haven't received their products. What's been going on behind the scenes? InDemand’s CEO Charlie Baron shared the following.
- the company is speaking with Best Buy about carrying the SwitchCharge in its stores
- so far, the SwitchCharge has been a “fulfillment nightmare”
- the team “underestimated how hard it would be to ship the products internationally”
- products with lithium batteries can’t be shipped in the cargo hold of an airplane
- the company had to switch to shipping by land and sea
- this caused budget issues for the company
- at this point, shipments of SwitchCharge cases should have already been sent out to the U.S. backers
- Canadian shipments will be coming “shortly”
- shipments to Australia and Asia should come after that
- getting the cases to backers is InDemand’s “number one priority” right now, and they apologized for the delays
