Cinemax’s new feature-length presentation Trouble No More spotlights Bob Dylan’s “gospel” period
Starring Bob Dylan and featuring Michael Shannon as the Preacher, Trouble No More is a feature-length presentation directed by Jennifer Lebeau that spotlights Dylan’s passionate, faith-based music, featuring electrifying, digitally-restored footage from concerts in Toronto and Buffalo in late-April and early-May 1980, which is interspersed with fiery sermons written by Luc Sante and delivered by Michael Shannon (HBO Films’ upcoming Fahrenheit 451; Oscar nominee for Nocturnal Animals and Revolutionary Road).
Bob Dylan’s controversial “gospel” period began with the release of the album Slow Train Coming (1979), which was followed by Saved (1980), and ended with Shot of Love (1981). Trouble No More showcases one of Dylan’s most exciting bands, consisting of Spooner Oldham and Terry Young on keyboards, Fred Tackett on guitar, Tim Drummond on bass, Jim Keltner on drums and backing singers Clydie King, Gwen Evans, Mona Lisa Young, Regina McCrary and Mary Elizabeth Bridges.
The film debuted at the 2017 New York Film Festival and is a Cinemax Presentation in association with Sony Music. Jeff Rosen and Nigel Sinclair are the executive producers of the project, with Lebeau acting as director and producer.
Trouble No More debuts exclusively on Cinemax on Monday, February 26 (10-11 p.m. ET/PT).
