In related news, Walt Disney Pictures revealed today that the film earned another $2.4 million yesterday domestically and $5.2 million internationally, for a global day of $7.6 million. That means Star Wars: The Last Jedi is now up to $576.9 million in North America, $646 million overseas, and $1.222 billion worldwide. It has passed up Iron Man 3 ($1.214 billion) to become the No. 12 global release of all time.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi was written and directed by Rian Johnson (Brick, Looper) and continues the storylines introduced in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, welcoming back cast members Mark Hamill, the late Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Lupita Nyong’o, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, and Andy Serkis. New cast members include Academy Award winner Benicio Del Toro, Academy Award nominee Laura Dern, and newcomer Kelly Marie Tran.
