For fans of Makoto Shinkai’s film, Your Name, a café travel bus will run in Tokyo for a limited time from August 3rd to September 29th in 2017. Additionally, the buses will be covered in art from the film and run for 90 minutes at a time.
As a collaboration project between Cool Japan Travel, THE GUEST cafe & diner and Anime Tourism Association, the buses will drive by locations featured in the film and guests will have the opportunity to purchase foods as shown in the film. In addition, guests will also receive one of eight limited edition special coasters as a gift.
Reservations for the café bus are now available, and tickets cost 5800 yen (~$52 USD).

Your Name is a Japanese animated theatrical film first released in 2016. And it is the highest grossing anime film in the United States, beating out Miyazaki Hayao’s Spirited Away. (Who would have thought that?) Furthermore, it has gained worldwide acclaim since its original release.
Your Name tells the story of a high school girl, Mitsuha, who lives in Japan’s rural Hida region of the Gifu Prefecture. She dreams of a Tokyo-raised teenaged boy Taki. Eventually, their lives become intertwined as they realize they are actually switching bodies and everything they do in their ‘dreams’ is real. They communicate through messages on their phone. That all changes when Mitsuha’s last message to Taki mentions a comet that’s expected to cross the sky during a town festival. Subsequent to a failed call to Mitsuha and the cessation of the body-switching, Taki decides to visit her hometown. Join Taki as his journey reveals an unexpected fact about their mysterious circumstances.
Japan gets a lot of cool stuff. As a result, let’s hope we could get Funimation to do something like that here in the West.
