Zelda: Breath of the Wild will have a $20 Expansion Pass

The highly-anticipated Legend of  Zelda: Breath of the Wild has officially gone gold and is set for release in just over a fortnight, but Nintendo is not done making announcements. It was just revealed earlier today that the game will feature a DLC pass that will cost $19.99 American.

You’ll be paying for content released from launch to Holiday Season. On Day 1 you’ll receive 3 new treasure chests found in the Great Plateau opening area, one of which is exclusive in-game clothing later revealed by Nintendo to be “a shirt with a Nintendo Switch logo that Link can wear during his adventure, exclusive to the Expansion Pass.” The rest of the list is incredibly vague, stating that the first DLC pack will go live in the summer including a new Cave of Trials challenge, a new Hard Mode and additional map feature. Is it a new area in the map or what? However, it looks like second wave of DLC will be the main selling point as it’ll add a new original story, dungeon, and additional challenges.

Former director of the game and series producer Eiji Aonuma said via the YouTube video above “With this additional content, we’d like to give seasoned Hyrule explorers something new and fun. The World of Hyrule awaits, and we hope the main game and additional content will provide you with a place to play, explore, and enjoy for a long time.”

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will launch on March 3, 2017 for Nintendo Switch and Wii U. The DLC will be available on both platforms.
