Castlevania is a popular video game series featuring vampire hunters, and it’s getting an animated series on Netflix this year. The Netflix press release, as reported by io9, makes it seem like it’s a minor thing with, “Castlevania Season 1, Part 1 Coming to Netflix in 2017.”
IGN reports that the Netflix’s official description of the animated series will follow the Belmont clan with, “the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepe himself.”
The series will contain four episodes with a 30-minute runtime each. Producers Warren Ellis, Kevin Kolde, Fred Seibert, and Adi Shankar are attached to the project. Shankar has produced Dredd and the R-rated Power Rangers fan film. Ellis is also attached as the writer with Seibert’s Frederator Studios (Adventure Time) working on the animation.
Castlevania was a project that was revealed by Shankar in 2015 that was going to be based on Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse. We’ll see if that’s still the case once there is more information.
