Castlevania animated series may be in development from Adventure Time team

Last year, producer Adi Shankar (Dredd, Lone Survivor) posted on Facebook that he was working on a new Castlevania mini-series along with Kevin Klonde and Fred Seibert, the founder and owner of Frederator Studios.

While there has been no news since last year about the project, Seibert recently appeared as a guest on the Nick Animation podcast and said that the project is in development. “We have a project now, that we are doing that needs to go unnamed. Based on one of the most world famous video games of the last 30 years. That we’ve had in our shop for 12 years without being able to get it started.” He continues, “But there were great characters and a great story and eventually we got it going.”

Last year, Adi co-produced a Power Rangers fan film that was darker and grittier than the Power Rangers we’ve grown up with. Honestly, the fan film was so good that I look forward to seeing what Adi and the company behind the Fairly Odd Parents and Adventure Time can do with such an iconic franchise.

With such a rich history of titles to select from, I can’t help but be intrigued if the series will be based on the original trilogy, Lords of Shadow, Symphony of the Night, Rondo of Blood or even a brand new original story. Either way, it’s something to look forward to. Since anything would be better than this guy.

What series would you like to see turn into an animated series?
