The Powerpuff Girls have been making a comeback with their highly-successful reboot that launched earlier this year. Now Millennials and I Gens will have something in common as we enjoy the revival of the Emmy-nominated animation series.
While attempting to create the perfect little girl, Professor Utonium accidentally spills Chemical X into a mixture of sugar, spice, and everything nice. This concoction gave birth to Bubbles, Blossom, and Buttercup – to be later known as the Powerpuff Girls. These 3 young sisters exhibit a number of superhuman traits such as flight, super strength and heat vision. With their powers, they protect their town and the Professor from variety of dangerous criminals and super villains, all while dealing with the issues that every young girl faces; going to school, making friends, and losing their first tooth.
We had the exclusive opportunity to talk with Kristen Li, the multi talented voice actress of Bubbles. Kristen gives us insight on what it is like portraying this powerful yet innocent Powerpuff Girl.

Nerd Reactor: Would you mind telling us a little bit about who you are, where you come from, and what you did before voice acting?
When I was little I used to watch the cartoons and I was curious as to how they fit the voices with animation. I researched voices and then voice over artists and their characters. It was fascinating to me. After that, I used to make different sounds pretending to be those characters. I think that’s when I knew I wanted to be a voice actor.
You are voicing Bubbles in the Powerpuff Girls reboot. Can you tell us about your character and how the reboot compares to the original?
The original and the reboot are very similar but we do have adjustments. The reboot has new powers, new villains, etc! The art is little bit different from the original show but Bubbles is still sweet, innocent and loves animals.
Were you a fan of the original show? Did you need to watch it/do research for your role as Bubbles?
Yes, I was definitely a fan! I used to watch the show when I was younger so I already knew it but I still had to do research. I watched clips from the original, just to get the vibe of the show again.
In what ways do you relate to your character?
Bubbles and I are both similar to each other. Bubbles is kind, outgoing and loves to help everyone. She’s the youngest one of the group and I am too! I laugh at silly things, get excited at small things and I ask lots of questions, just like Bubbles!
Who is your favorite villain in the show?
Him has been always been one of my favorites because his character is very unpredictable! Although I do like the humor Mojo Jojo brings to the show as well.
What do you enjoy doing when you are not acting?
I like to hang out with my friends, skate boarding, and just have fun like all the other teens. I like to do anything active because I spend most of my time doing school work.
Is there a place that fans can keep up with you online?
All of my social handles are @JustKristenLi!
