Star Wars’ Darth Vader vs. Kenobi lightsaber battle is reimagined as more epic

Star Wars A New Hope Darth Vader vs Obi-Wan Kenobi lightsaber reimagined

Lightsaber battles have been getting crazier and flashier with each new Star Wars film being released. For example, there’s a huge difference between Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith‘s Anakin Skywalker vs Obi-Wan Kenobi lightsaber fight and Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back‘s Luke Skywalker vs. Darth Vader battle. Now we have FXitinPost reimagining the Darth Vader vs. Obi-Wan Kenobi fight sequence seen in Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope.

The video uses old Star Wars footage and splices it with new footage created by the FXitinPost team. With special effects and stunt performers, we’re able to see Darth Vader and Obi-Wan go at it like they’re Jedi Masters. It’s amplified with sound clips from the prequel trilogy and an emotional score.

Synopsis: “Scene 38 ReImagined” is about the final confrontation between Ben Kenobi & Darth Vader in “A New Hope” nearly 20 years after the events of “Revenge Of The Sith.” This is a one-off story driven scene reflecting the characters in its chronological order from the point of Revenge of the Sith through Rebels, Rogue One, and all canon material leading to A New Hope.

The concept of changing a scene isn’t new to Star Wars fans. George Lucas has edited the original trilogy with new scenes and special effects for the Star Wars Special Editions. However, there are fans who didn’t like the changes and prefer the original trilogy untouched.

For fans of the reimagined scene, this would be great if Lucasfilm could release a version with this added in. Here we see Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi showing off their might and still at their prime. If the Sith can be an uber badass in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, why can’t he continue that in the original trilogy? Well, that depends on whether fans are willing to accept change. Of course, some changes aren’t for the better like the Han Solo and Greedo scene in A New Hope.

As for Lucasfilm, it will be releasing Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker on December 20, 2019.
