CES: Step up your mobile photography with Huawei Mate 10 Pro

If you’ve never heard of the Chinese manufacturer Huawei, well you’re about to. As one of China’s biggest smartphone brand, Huawei is completely unknown to the people in the U.S., that is unless you look outside of brands like Apple and Samsung. During CES, Huawei made the announcement that they’ll finally be available at all major U.S. electronics retailers like Amazon, Microsoft, Newegg and Bestbuy beginning February 18. And they’re bringing a serious work horse with them: The Huawei Mate 10 Pro.

Over the years Huawei has always pushed the boundaries of technology and design, so when it comes to the Mate 10 Pro, no corners were cut.

Specs:

  • 6.0” 18:9 OLED display
  • 2160 x 1080 resolution
  • Huawei Kirin 970 Octa-Core processor
  • 6gb RAM
  • 128gb storage
  • USB type C display-port 1.2
  • 4000 mAh battery
  • Front 8MP camera
  • Rear 20MP camera f/1.6
  • 4K video recording
  • IP67 Water and Dust resistant
  • Android 8.0 with Huawei EMUI 8.0

The one feature that makes the Huawei stand out amongst other smartphones is its camera. Once again Huawei has teamed up with German camera manufacturer Lecia to bring you the most impressive and sophisticated camera on any smartphone. The back of the Mate 10 pro features two Summilux-H lenses. One is a 12MP RGB sensor and the other is a 20MP monochrome sensor. Both carrying an aperture of f/1.6 and optical image stabilization, which will give you some of the best pictures with amazing shallow depth-of-field even in low-light situations. Leica Summilux lenses are some of the most coveted lenses in today’s world of photography. They’re built extremely durable and has some of the finest glass the world has ever seen. So to see it built into a smartphone is nothing short of amazing.

On top of the prestigious glass, the camera is paired with Huawei’s AI technology that will help you capture stunning photographs. It has AI-powered Real-TIme scene and object recognition and AI-powered motion detection which allows the camera to automatically choose the best settings to capture what you want to capture.

The Mate 10 will have a 3D glass body which is wrapped around a metal middle frame. The edges are rounded to fit more comfortably in your hand. It will come in an assortment of colors like midnight blue, titanium grey and mocha brown. The back also features a reflective band to highlight the dual cameras.

Pre-orders for the Mate 10 will begin on February 4th with a price of $799 USD.

For a more elegant touch, you can get the Mate 10 Porsche Design (diamond black color) for $1,225 USD.

The Mate 10 Pro will be unlocked and will work on numerous GSM networks like T-Mobile, AT&T, Cricket, and MetroPCS.
