CES: Nokia smartphones now available on Amazon

If you didn’t own a cellphone before the first iPhone was released, then the name “Nokia” is probably lost on you. Before the emergence of Android and iOS, Nokia was the leading manufacturer in the world. They innovated design and technology to bring us the smartphones we’ve come to know. But over the last couple of years, Nokia has been absent, unknown to the world of smartphone technology.

A few years ago, Nokia announced that they were adopting the Android platform for their smartphones. Ever since then, Nokia has been slowly releasing a few smartphones with the Android operating system. During CES Nokia displayed a few of their models, giving attendees a hands on look at some of their flagship models

NOKIA 6

The 6 is Nokia’s mid-range android phone, with a 5.5” IPS LCD display with Full-HD resolution (16:9). The display is protected with a sculpted corning gorilla glass. Paired with the bright full-HD display is a pair of dual Dolby Atmos speakers. The front has a capacitive home button with a fingerprint sensor. Rounding out the outside is a 16mp rear camera and a 8mp front facing camera. Inside, the Nokia 6 is packed with a Snapdragon 430 processor, 32gb of storage with MicroSD support up to 128gb and 3gb of ram. Power won’t be a problem with the 6 since it carries a 3000mA battery.

The Nokia 6 has a unibody design made out of aluminum. The back is chamfered to make holding in the hand quite comfortable. As far as operating system, the 6 is running stock Android Nougat with the Google Essential services. So there won’t be any third-party bloatware right out of the box.

NOKIA 8

The 8 is Nokia’s high-end flagship phone. It has a 5.3” IPS QHD display with a 2K resolution which is protected with corning gorilla glass 5. Take great photos and videos with a front and rear 13mp cameras with ZEISS optics. The 8 is the first smartphone with the Nokia OZO spatial 360˚ audio built in, which means you can capture 4K video with amazing 360˚ audio. In the inside you’re going to see a snapdragon 835 Octa core with 4gb of ram and 64g of internal memory with a microSD slot with support up to 256gb. For operating system, the 8 is loaded with stock Android Oreo.

The design of the Nokia 8 is made from a single block of 6000 series aluminum with a polished mirror finish. Its lightweight and features round edges which makes it seamlessly blend in with the palm of your hand, making it extremely comfortable. And don’t worry about getting the 8 wet, because it’s rated with IP54 splashproof.

Though Nokia smartphones are not available at any of the mobile carriers here in the U.S., you can now buy their phones on Amazon. It’s the first time that Nokia has been available to be purchased anywhere else besides their own website. Now if you think that specs and designs for Nokia’s phones are gorgeous, then you’ll be glad to hear that the cost for these models is way below any comparable smartphone. The Nokia 6 is prices at $229, while the Nokia 8 is priced around $460.
