Could the Accountant be a prequel to Batman? John Mayer thinks so

John Mayer is known across Hollywood as kind of an outspoken guy who holds nothing back. Most recently, he tweeted an interesting theory linking Ben Affleck’s characters from the film The Accountant and Batman from both the Justice League and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

He began stating, “Now that we’ve settled it that Die Hard is a Christmas movie, I would like to posit that The Accountant is a Batman movie.” He then went on in a separate tweet claiming “Here we go: it’s a Bruce Wayne origin story. We see that he is both trained in fighting and accounting. His father was shot. His trailer/storage space is the first bat-cave. He is beginning to acquire great wealth. His brother will become his arch nemesis”.

If you know Batman’s background or even saw the Chris Nolan trilogy, he left his home and family, hiding who he was to train. Could Bruce Wayne be the same person as Christian Wolff, maybe pulling a false identity of a man with high-functioning autism? This would be a great way to throw the scent off, and although there are tons of loopholes, it is definitely a fun theory to consider.

If you haven’t yet seen The Accountant, you should watch it then tell us what you think about the theory proposed by John Mayer.

The Accountant synopsis: Christian Wolff (Ben Affleck) is a mathematics savant with more affinity for numbers than people. Using a small-town CPA office as a cover, he makes his living as a freelance accountant for dangerous criminal organizations. With a Treasury agent (J.K. Simmons) hot on his heels, Christian takes on a state-of-the-art robotics company as a legitimate client. As Wolff gets closer to the truth about a discrepancy that involves millions of dollars, the body count starts to rise.
