With the release of its second season just days ago, Netflix has confirmed the next story of the popular series, Narcos. The previous seasons followed the rise and fall of Pablo Escobar and his dealings with the other drug lords in Colombia. Now that he’s gone and the seat to be the next Colombian drug king is open, only one group is left, the Cali Cartel.
At season 2, the Cali Cartel made a truce of sorts with Moncada and made a unified group to take down Pablo. Once that happened they looked to take down the last competition in the drug game, Judy Moncada, by taking down her labs while in the process of taking down Pablo and then turning her over to the CIA as an informant. They then got her right-hand man when she decided to rat on the others to the DEA and also making the Castaño brothers part of their operation.
Also at the latter half of the second season, we see Javi get into trouble by the round-about ways he used to get to Pablo and was shipped back to the US for a review hearing. As we saw in the finale episode, it was not a hearing but what looked to be an introduction to a new group to take down the Cali Cartel.
So if the new story follows the previous seasonal breakdown, then we can expect a 2 season arc for the Cali Cartel, as well.
