Whether fair or not, the general consensus is that the original Star Wars trilogy is far superior to the prequel trilogy. To take it one step further, the prequels have all but become synonymous with garbage. Fans almost take offense to their mere existence. With that said, the movies aren’t without their fans and a new documentary from the Ministry of Cinema called The Prequels Strike Back: A Fan’s Journey aims to discuss the films in a more complimentary fashion.
Apparently, the Star Wars prequels have amassed a fairly large fanbase, despite popular belief, of a younger audience that Kevin Smith says didn’t approach the films with the same cynical eye like the older generation. Filmmakers, including creators and propmakers, as well as Star Wars enthusiasts in general will explore the reasons behind the disdain for the prequels, but will also focus heavily on the positive aspects of each film.
“You’re going to see a generation of kids that grew up watching the prequels that didn’t feel the same way that we did,” said Smith. “Ya know, we’re just the loudest voice in the room.”
The Prequels Strike Back: A Fan’s Journey will be released digitally on September 14th and in theaters on October 6th in Austin Texas.
