Following the recent addition of Oscar nominee Jonathan Pryce as Prince Phillip, Netflix has added another big name to the final ensemble cast of The Crown with Widows star Elizabeth Debicki officially signing for the role of Princess Diana in the award-winning series’ final two seasons. The long-awaited debut of the People’s Princess will arrive in the upcoming fifth season with newcomer Emma Corrin set first to portray the iconic role. Pryce and Debicki will be joining previously announced new leads Imelda Staunton and Lesley Manville, who are portraying the roles of Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Margaret.

The 30-year-old Australian actress has appeared in a number of high-profile films since 2013 including: The Great Gatsby, The TaleThe Man from U.N.C.L.E., Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Peter Rabbit, and Widows. She also starred opposite Tom Hiddleston in BBC One’s acclaimed limited series The Night Manager. Debicki will next be seen in Christopher Nolan’s forthcoming sci-fi feature Tenet which is expected to debut in select U.S. theaters on September 3, 2020.

The third season of The Crown saw the entire cast aging up, including Tobias Menzies taking over for Matt Smith who played Prince Philip during the first two seasons. Prince Charles and Princess Anne will also grow older with Josh O’Connor and Erin Doherty filling in those roles. Gillian Anderson will play Margaret Thatcher with Emerald Fennell portraying Camilla Parker Bowles.

Season three of The Crown took place during 1964 and 1972 and is covering major events in British history, like Princess Margaret’s affair with Roddy Llewellyn, Margaret Thatcher’s political rise, and the introduction of Camilla Parker Bowles. Both Seasons 3 and 4 of the series will be shot back-to-back.

The series tells the inside story of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign, as the fragile social order established after the Second World War breaks apart. Based on the award-winning play, “The Audience,” the series reunites creator/writer Peter Morgan (The QueenFrost/Nixon) with director Stephen Daldry (Billy ElliotThe Hours) and producer Andy Harries (The Queen).

Seasons 1-3 of The Crown are already available for streaming on Netflix.
