Tenet tickets to go on sale this Friday for advance screenings

According to IndieWire, Warner Bros. Pictures has sent a lengthy email to exhibitors regarding the highly-anticipated theatrical release of Christopher Nolan’s latest sci-fi feature Tenet. In the contract obtained by the outlet, the upcoming film will be having a 3-day limited advance screenings on Monday, August 31 which is three days earlier from its scheduled theatrical wide release on September 3. Tickets for the advance screenings will reportedly be going on sale starting this Friday, August 21 while ticket selling for the September 3 release is expected to begin on Thursday, August 27.

The contract also details the studio’s special terms that exhibitors must comply with in order to be able to show Tenet in their theaters. One of the terms is that the film would only be shown in theaters that will strictly implement the wearing of face masks on its customers while inside the theaters.

“These special terms are being offered to its exhibitor customers specifically for ‘Tenet’ to address the special circumstances in the market…including the high commercial risk from uncertain consumer demand, reopening rules, health and safety regulations, and socially distancing capacity issues.” The studio said in their email.

The highly-anticipated mystery project will first open in 70 countries including Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Russia, Spain and the U.K. on August 26, with some territories still yet to receive a release date, while select US cities will see the film open on September 3 ahead of the Labor Day weekend.

Tenet will be an international espionage thriller filmed across seven countries. John David Washington (BlacKkKlansman) stars, with a supporting cast that includes Robert Pattinson (Good Time), Elizabeth Debicki (Widows), Dimple Kapadia (Fugly), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Avengers: Age of Ultron), Michael Caine (The Dark Knight Rises) and Kenneth Branagh (Dunkirk).

The director first made an impact in 2001 with his indie film Memento. His next film, Insomnia, was also a modest hit. but it wasn’t until Batman Begins hit theaters in 2005 that Nolan became a box office force in his own right. The Prestige was Nolan’s last movie to gross under $200 million worldwide. His other films include The Dark KnightThe Dark Knight RisesInceptionInterstellar, and Dunkirk.

Tenet is written by Nolan and will utilize a mixture of IMAX and 70mm film, which is something he’s become famous for. Nolan is the film producer along with his partner Emma Thomas.
