Wyndham’s 1957 story centers on the sleepy English village of Midwich, where a strange sequence of events culminates in the community’s women falling pregnant with alien children with glowing eyes and otherworldly powers. The book is considered one of Wyndham’s most iconic works alongside The Day of the Triffids.

Farr is adapting the novel into an eight-part series, which will be housed at ITV Studios-backed Route 24, run by producer Marc Samuelson (Arlington Road) and Snowed-In Productions.

Wyndham’s The Midwich Cuckoos was first adapted into a film in 1960 by director Wolf Rilla, who co-wrote the screenplay along with Stirling Silliphant and Ronald Kinnoch. In 1995, John Carpenter (Halloween, The Fog, The Thing) directed the Village of the Damned adapted screenplay from David Himmelstein in a new iteration of the story that starred Christopher Reeve and Kirstie Alley.
