Hey there, fellow couch potatoes! After taking a gander at this week’s Top 20 I’ve come to this conclusion: we really need some new releases. Sonic remains in the top spot, again, followed by The Invisible Man, again, followed by Harley Qu — oh, wait! The Hunt? That Universal flick about people murdering each other for sport suddenly jumped from nonexistence to No. 3 overnight?
I’ll take it! I never saw The Hunt, so I have no idea if it even works as B-movie entertainment. Maybe I’ll give it a whirl.
Also popping up for the first time ever: Gone with the Wind, which received an unintentional marketing push when HBO Max opted to pull it from its catalog amidst the current, ah, situation. Naturally, audiences decided to watch the Civil War epic probably just to see what all the hoopla was about. I saw GWTW for the first time a few years back and lost interest midway through. It’s just really long and slow… like, Ben Hur long and slow. And Ben Hur is long and slow. To each their own. The flick remains the top grossing movie of all time when adjusted for inflation (even over the likes of Jaws and Star Wars), which is nuts. But people like semi-historical drama, epic love stories and controversy. So, there ya go.
Yellowstone: Season 1 popped up as well. I’ve wanted to watch this for a while now, but am already a subscriber to Hulu, Netflix, HBO Max, Amazon and Apple TV. I draw the line at five subscriptions.
