Tom Hanks’ Bios gets new release date, plus new Greyhound trailer

After a series of release date changes for upcoming high-profile movies including Tenet and Wonder Woman 1984, Universal Pictures/ Amblin is following suit as they decided to change the release date for their forthcoming sci-fi drama film titled BiosOriginally scheduled to make its theatrical release on October 2020, Amblin has now pushed back the release of their Tom Hanks-led film to April 16, 2021. Currently, the film’s only clear competitor on the new date will be Warner Bros.’ Reminiscence which is also a sci-fi drama starring Hugh Jackman, Thandie Newton and Rebecca Ferguson.

In addition, Apple TV+ has also released a brand new trailer for Hank’s upcoming World War II drama film Greyhound, featuring new footage of the film’s thrilling naval battle sequences. Available for streaming on July 10, you can check out the trailer in the player below!

Bios follows Finch (Hanks), the last man on Earth. An ailing inventor facing his own mortality, Finch builds a robot (Jones) to keep his beloved dog safe. As the trio embarks upon an epic cross-country journey, the scientist must teach his creation to become “human” enough to take care of its charge, and the beloved pet to accept a new master.

The film will star Oscar winner Tom Hanks (Forrest Gump), Caleb Landry Jones (Get Out), and Samira Wiley (The Handmaid’s Tale), Skeet Ulrich (Scream) and Laura Harrier (BlacKkKlansman). Emmy-winning director Miguel Sapochnik (Game of Thrones, Altered Carbon) is directing Bios from a script by Craig Luck (Interloper) and Ivor Powell (The Dreamer).

Based on C.S. Forester’s novel The Good Shepherd, the film will be set in the early days of WWII. In Greyhound, an international convoy of 37 Allied ships, led by captain Ernest Krause (Hanks) in his first command of a U.S. destroyer, crosses the treacherous waters of the Black Pit in the North Atlantic while hotly pursued by wolf packs of Nazi U-boats. With no air cover protection for 5 days, the captain and his convoy must battle the surrounding enemy in order to give the allies a chance to win the war. The film is directed by Aaron Schneider.

The film stars Tom Hanks (Saving Private RyanA Beautiful Day in the NeighborhoodCast Away), Stephen Graham (SnatchTinker Tailor Soldier SpyRocketman), Rob Morgan (MudboundStranger ThingsDaredevil), and Oscar nominee Elisabeth Shue (Leaving Las VegasThe BoysDeath Wish).
