Following yesterday’s release of The CW’s new 2020-2021 schedule, The CW president and CEO Mark Pedowitz was also asked about the future of the network’s current pending pilots such as The Green Arrow & the Canaries and the untitled The 100 prequel. In a recent press call, Pedowitz has positively revealed that both spinoff projects are still “very much alive” and likely to get series orders from the network.

“They are very much in active discussions to see what we can do.” He said (via Deadline). “I’ve had many discussions with Warner Bros, we have a strategy involved — hopefully we can pull it off.”

In addition, Pedowitz had also commented on their long-in development series adaptation of Joel Schumacher’s 1987 film The Lost Boys which has suffered a number of delays this past year. Earlier this week, the production has hit another setback when The CW had decided to put it on hold.

“Lost Boys is a passion of mine personally, having Rob attached to it,” Pedowitz said, who is very hopeful about the project’s fate. “Once we get through this climate, we will make a determination on how best to proceed with Lost Boys. I’m hoping to keep it going.”

In Green Arrow & the Canaries, McNamara will be starring as Mia Smoak alongside Katie Cassidy Rodgers and Juliana Harkavy, who previously played different versions of the Black Canary, reprising as those heroes. Arrow showrunner Beth Schwartz co-wrote the pilot with Arrow co-creator Marc Guggenheim and Jill Blankenship & Oscar Balderrama. Arrow’s penultimate episode served as a backdoor pilot and gave viewers their first look at what the show would look like.

Mia Smoak is the only daughter of Oliver Queen and Felicity Smoak. The character first appeared in the eighth episode of Arrow’s seventh season and was first introduced with an alias called Blackstar. In the spinoff, Mia is set to take on the mantle of the Green Arrow from her father, who she shares a lot of similarities within terms of skills and personality.

This marks the latest entry in the Arrowverse for The CW, which will see its flagship series officially conclude next year. Other shows set in the series’ continuity include The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow and the upcoming Batwoman.

The untitled The 100 prequel will be set 97 years before the events of the main series and starts with the end of the world and a nuclear apocalypse that wipes out most of the human population on Earth. It follows a band of survivors on the ground as they learn to cope in a dangerous world while fighting to create a new and better society out of the ashes of what came before.

The backdoor pilot will air in the upcoming seventh and final season of The 100. Jason Rothenberg will write and executive produce the pilot. Alloy Entertainment’s Leslie Morgenstein and Gina Girolamo will also serve as executive producers. The prequel series will be co-produced by Warner Bros. TV and CBS TV Studios, the co-owners of The CW.
