This revealing documentary takes viewers on a journey into the fertile imagination and life of “The Twilight Zone” creator Rod Serling. This insightful chronicle provides viewers with a closer look at what inspired Serling’s unique blend of thought-provoking and visionary storytelling from his experiences as a paratrooper in World War II to his early writing days in live television, and ultimately the creation of the classic.

This two-part, in-depth documentary chronicles the development and production of Jordan Peele and Simon Kinberg’s modern take on the classic anthology series.
  • Part One: A Dimension of Mind: Development

Go behind-the-scenes to understand the process of finding the right creative approach to bring back one of television’s most iconic and influential storytelling platforms. Executive producers Simon Kinberg, Jordan Peele, Win Rosenfeld, Audrey Chon and Glen Morgan shed light on the different ideas and concepts explored during the early days of development, as well as the creative choices that helped lay the foundation for the new series.

  • Part Two: A Dimension of Sight and Sound: Production

Viewers get a candid look at the making of the first season with members of the creative team reflecting on the challenges and highlights from the show’s first year. The documentary provides a first-hand account at all stages of production from filming to music scoring and visual effects work, including an exploration of the show’s take on the iconic opening title sequence.

Oscar winner Jordan Peele’s reimaging of the classic sci-fi/horror anthology features an ensemble cast that consists of Peele (Get Out) as the host, Seth Rogen (Invincible) Greg Kinnear (Brigsby Bear), Kumail Nanjiani (The Big Sick), Ike Barinholtz (Blockers), Taissa Farmiga (The Nun), Ginnifer Goodwin (Once Upon a Time), Luke Kirby (Glass), Sanaa Lathan (Family Guy), Adam Scott (Ghosted), Rhea Seehorn (Better Call Saul), Jessica Williams (The Incredible Jessica James), DeWanda Wise (She’s Gotta Have It), Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead), Zazie Beetz (Deadpool 2, Joker), Betty Gabriel (Get Out), Percy Hynes White (Gifted),  James Frain (True Blood), Tracy Morgan, Seth Rogen (Long Shot), Chris Dowd (Bridesmaids), and Amy Landecker (Transparent).

The original The Twilight Zone took viewers to another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. Created by Rod Serling, it was a journey into a wondrous land of imagination for five years on CBS, from 1959-1964. The godfather of sci-fi series, the show explored humanity’s hopes, despairs, prides and prejudices in metaphoric ways conventional drama could not.

The new Twilight Zone series is produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions and Simon Kinberg’s Genre Films. Jordan Peele, Kinberg, and Marco Ramirez serve as executive producers for the series and collaborated on the premiere episode. Win Rosenfeld and Audrey Chon also serve as executive producers.

Season 1 of The Twilight Zone is currently streaming on CBS All Access with a second season currently in development. The Blu-ray and DVD of the first season hits shelves on February 18!
