Test footage from George Lucas’ canceled Star Wars: Underworld series released
Test footage from George Lucas’ canceled 2010 Star Wars television series, Star Wars: Underworld, has been released (via Geek Tyrant). You can check out the video, which includes a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the test footage, in the player below!

According to Geek Tyrant, Lucas wanted the live-action series to be 400 episodes and he apparently already had 100 completed scripts before the project was put on hold. Star Wars: Underworld was set to take place in the Coruscant underworld between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope.
The outlet says that it would have been a “gangster drama” and “likened to Deadwood and The Godfather in space.”
“Interestingly enough, that’s an area we’ve spent a lot of time, reading through the material that he developed is something we very much would like to explore,” Kathleen Kennedy previously said about the project in 2015. “And there was 1313 the game, where there was…unbelievable. So our attitude is, we don’t want to throw any of that stuff away. It’s gold. And it’s something we’re spending a lot of time looking at, pouring through, discussing, and we may very well develop those things further. We definitely want to.”
Lucasfilm producer Rick McCallum also previously discussed Star Wars: Underworld, saying: “It’s the Empire slowly building up its power base around the galaxy, what happens in Coruscant, which is the major capital, and it’s a group of underground bosses who live there and control drugs, prostitution.”

According to the YouTube channel, the footage was produced by Stargate Studios in partnership with Lucasfilm.
