D23 Expo is finally upon us and that means one thing: Information about future Disney projects! This year, they finally pull back the curtain on a lot of programming for their new streaming service. One of the shows announced very early on was Jon Favreau’s Star Wars series, The Mandalorian. The series follows “the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.” Not to mention, the series takes place after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. In other words, it takes place in between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. Now after months and months of teases, we finally have a trailer.
Now, if you saw the trailer then you should recognize one of the characters. However, the character in question is not IG-88. The assassin droid in the trailer is actually, IG-11 (played by Taika Waititi). That’s not the only piece of news to come out of D23 today. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. actress Ming-Na Wen will also be joining the cast of the series as well. However, it’s not known who she’ll be playing in the series.
Unfortunately for every single impatient person out there, fans won’t be able to watch every single episode of The Mandalorian at once. Favreau told Variety that Disney is “going one episode at a time” which means that plans on binge-watching the series are going straight out of the window. Yes, Netflix has spoiled us.
The first episode of The Mandalorian hits Disney+ on November 12th.
