Optimus Prime is a popular Transformers, and there have been many different versions of the Autobot leader, whether he appeared in video games, comics, movies, or cartoons. And since the franchise originated as a toy line, there have been all kinds of Optimus Prime toys. For the Transformers’s 35th anniversary, Transformers and Ghostbusters teamed up for a very cool Optimus Prime x Ghostbusters figure, and it premiered at San Diego Comic-Con. Hasbro and Takara Tomy sent us the figure to check out, and we couldn’t wait to play with it.

The Transformers Masterpiece MP-10G Optimus Prime Ecto-25 Edition figure is modeled after the MP-10 Optimus Prime, which is our favorite Optimus Prime figure to date. Optimus Prime MP-1 changed the game on how to make a Transformers figure look accurate as a robot and vehicle. The MP-10 figure is an evolution of that, and Optimus Prime is looking more like his G1 animated version.

The Optimus Prime x Ghostbusters figure has a lot of steps to transform from robot to truck and vice versa. Even though it can be lengthy, it’s also a lot of fun. In addition, it’s also the easiest one to transform from the figures seen above. That’s pretty impressive since he looks more like his cartoon counterpart than the others.

Optimus Prime comes with a trailer, and it can be transformed into an Ecto-Base and Ecto Maintenance Dock. The Maintenance Dock acts as a background, and the figure can be placed right in the front.

Another way to open the trailer is to turn it into The Ecto-Base. Adding small vehicles like the Autobot Roller is icing on the cake.

Slimer comes with the figure, and the Autobot Roller can be transformed into the Ghostbusters Ghost Trap. The trailer functions like a real one with doors that and a ramp.

Optimus Prime’s truck mode is pretty accurate, and since this is a collaboration with Ghostbusters, there’s a siren to let onlookers know that the hunt for ghosts has begun.

To capture the ghost, you’ll need a Proton Pack. This pack has the ability to transform into a siren to alert pedestrians. Collectors can can place it on top of the trailer. As a Proton Pack, it comes with the weapon meant for holding ghosts. With the Autobot Roller as the Ghost Trap, you’ll have everything you need to capture ghosts.

Of course, we have to mention the packaging. The toy is already big, but that doesn’t you have to carry a plain box. The packaging is designed like a Proton Pack, and it can be worn on your shoulders thanks to the straps. This is best for those who have purchased it at a convention and don’t want to lug it around.

Like the MP-10 before it, the Optimus Prime x Ghostbusters MP-10G figure is a beautiful figure that will grab the attention of any Transformers fan. There are many steps to transforming the figure, but it becomes easier afterward.

If you didn’t get a chance to get the Optimus Prime x Ghostbusters figure at San Diego Comic-Con, don’t worry. EB Games will be selling it at their booth during Fan Expo Canada from August 22 – August 25.
