Westworld Season 3 to be More of an Experience and Easier to Follow

Westworld season 3 to be more of an experience and easier to follow

We are still a ways off from the debut of Westworld Season 3, but after that intriguing teaser a few months back, more information was bound to follow. Cue co-showrunner Jonathan Nolan, who dropped a few tidbits via an interview with Entertainment Weekly, most important of which was the news that the next season would be less cryptic than the others.

“This is season is a little less of a guessing game and more of an experience with the hosts finally getting to meet their makers, Nolan said.

After two seasons that took their time unwrapping a tightly written labyrinth narrative this news is refreshing. Particularly since it sounds like the entire show will shift from the Western-themed park of Seasons 1 and 2 and explore society albeit through the eyes of the vengeful Dolores.

“I love shows that find a groove and hang with it for 100 episodes — that was never this show,”Nolan continued.“We always wanted every season to find our characters in radically different circumstances. And with a cast this talented, watching the metamorphosis of all these characters is one of the most fun parts.”

Said metamorphosis will include introducing series stalwarts with new characters such as Aaron Paul’s construction worker Caleb.

“Aaron’s character will challenge Dolores’ notions about the nature of humanity,” Nolan said. “He’s the type of person who doesn’t get to go to Westworld.”

Nolan also explained that the new season will play out more in the Western United States. Like Dolores, viewers will realize that the old West no longer exists because, “We paved the thing over, and civilization eventually caught up with all those people who were running away from it.”

Newcomers for the series include the aforementioned Aaron Paul  (Breaking Bad), Lena Waithe (Ready Player One), with NFL player Marshawn Lynch, and Vincent Cassel (Black Swan, Eastern Promises). They join Evan Rachel Wood, Thandie Newton, Ed Harris, Jeffrey Wright, Tessa Thompson, Luke Hemsworth, Talulah Riley, Rodrigo Santoro, and Sir Anthony Hopkins in the series.

A dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the birth of a new form of life on Earth, the Emmy-winning Westworld was created for television by Jonathan Nolan & Lisa Joy, who are also executive producers with J.J. Abrams, Richard J. Lewis, Roberto Patino, Athena Wickham and Ben Stephenson

Westworld comes from production companies Kilter Films and Bad Robot Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. The series is based on the film written by Michael Crichton. A premiere date for season three has currently not been set but it will debut in 2020.
