Vampires: One of a select few monsters that revolutionized the horror genre as we know it back in the early 20th century. Accompanied by Frankenstein, the Mummy, the Wolfman, the Invisible Man, and a few others, Nosferatu himself remains one of the most instantly recognizable creatures in the genre’s history. These pale-looking blood-suckers have appeared countless times since the invention of the feature film, and they’re showing no signs of stopping now.
In the years since F.W. Murnau’s groundbreaking vampire movie, audiences have encountered romantic vampires, funny vampires, horrific vampires, and all sorts of vampires in between. Heck, we’ve even seen vampire hunters like Blade or From Dusk Till Dawn (or Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter). No matter if they’re making us laugh, scaring us silly, or charming our socks off, these are the best vampires in film.
