Clifford the Big Red Dog adds Kenan Thompson, Rosie Perez and more
The upcoming film adaptation of Clifford the Big Red Dog has added three more actors to its growing litter. According to The Hollywood Reporter, David Alan Grier (The Carmichael Show), Rosie Perez (The Dead Don’t Die) and SNL mainstay Kenan Thompson have all signed on.
Currently, there’s no information about the roles they’ll be playing, but the trio will be joining previously announced cast members John Cleese (Monty Python), Sienna Guillory (Resident Evil), Darby Camp (Big Little Lies) and Jack Whitehall (Jungle Cruise).
Clifford the Big Red Dog, based on the books by Norman Bridwell, will see Emily (Camp) struggling to fit in at home and at school, discover a small red puppy who is destined to become her best friend. When Clifford magically undergoes one heck of a growth spurt, becomes a gigantic dog and attracts the attention of a genetics company, Emily and her Uncle Casey (Whitehall) have to fight the forces of greed as they go on the run across New York City. Along the way, Clifford affects the lives of everyone around him and teaches Emily and her uncle the true meaning of acceptance and unconditional love.

The movie was written by Jay Scherick, David Ronn, Annie Mumolo, and Stan Chervin, with Walt Becker (Old Dogs) directing. The Paramount Pictures feature is scheduled to begin shooting this June in New York. Jordan Kerner and Scholastic Entertainment’s Deborah Forte will produce.
Clifford the Big Red Dog is scheduled to hit theaters on November 13, 2020.
