Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and NetherRealm Studios have just released a new gameplay trailer for Shang Tsung. Gamers got a taste of the evil sorcerer in Mortal Kombat 11’s Krypt mode, and Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa reprises his role made famous in the 1995 Mortal Kombat film by Paul W.S. Anderson (The Resident Evil films). The trailer also confirms new kombatants joining the roster including Sindel, Nightwolf and… Spawn!
Spawn, Shang Tsung, Sindel and Nightwolf are 4 of a total of 6 playable characters included in the Mortal Kombat 11 Kombat Pack. To see what Shang Tsung is capable of, check out his gameplay trailer below. He also shows off his fatality, which gives us a taste of a forgotten 4-armed villain.
Spawn is a new guest character, and NetherRealm Studios was able to get Keith David to return, who voiced Spawn in the HBO animated mini-series. The other two characters yet to be revealed will also be guest fighters. Each of the DLC characters will get a character skin and gear sets. Johnny Cage will get a bonus Ninja Mime character skin and gear set, and existing Mortal Kombat 11 characters will get bonus character skins. If you have the Kombat Pack, you’ll get access to them a week early.
The new characters, skins and gear sets will be available in the coming months for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Shang Tsung will be available on June 18th, a week after E3 2019. (If you’re at E3, you can playtest him out even earlier.) The Kombat Pack is available as part of the Mortal Kombat 11 Premium Edition for $99.99 (SRP), or you can get pack separately for $39.99 (SRP).
Spawn, created by Todd McFarlane, used to be a government assassin named Al Simmons. Due to his past sins, he was sent to hell and became a hellspawn, a servant to Malebolgia. The character had his own HBO animated mini-series and a live-action movie starring Michael Jai White. Soon, fans will get to see the return of a live-action Spawn with McFarlane as the director and Jamie Foxx as Spawn.
Mortal Kombat 11 Synopsis: The story continues as Raiden’s defeat of the evil Elder God, Shinnok, has drawn the ire of Kronika, the Keeper of Time, and upset her desired balance between good and evil. To restore stability in the realms, Kronika has only one option – rewind time to its beginning and restart history. Through the immersive story mode, players take on the role of various fighters from past and present Mortal Kombat eras, who must join forces to defeat Shao Khan’s Outworld armies and solve the temporal crisis at stake.
