When the trailer hit for the live-action Sonic the Hedgehog movie, it was met with backlash from the fans because of the unfaithful design. Director Jeff Fowler has taken the hint and has assured fans that he and his team will make changes to Sonic’s design. The movie’s release date didn’t seem to change after the announcement, but now he has made a new announcement that the film is indeed going to be delayed.
Fowler made the announcement this morning that Sonic the Hedgehog’s date of November 8, 2019, will be changed. The film will be pushed back three months and will be released on Valentine’s Day of 2020 (Friday, February 14th). This definitely gives the visual effects artists more time to make the changes, and it’s not really surprising since this is the main character we’re talking about.

What’s interesting about the artwork featuring Sonic the Hedgehog holding the release date sign is that we see his a white glove on his hand. Sonic voice actor Ben Schwartz (Parks and Recreation) pointed it out on his Instagram.
Synopsis: Sonic the Hedgehog follows the (mis)adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound – human – best friend Tom Wachowski (James Marsden). Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination.
The film is directed by Jeff Fowler (Gopher Broke) and written by Patrick Casey, Josh Miller and Oren Uziel from a story by Van Robichaux and Evan Susser. It’s based on the Sonic the Hedgehog video game by Sega and stars Jim Carrey as Doctor Eggman, James Marsden as Tom Wachowski, Tika Sumpter as Dr. Annie Wachowski, Neal McDonough as Major Bennington and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.
