Snowpiercer series moves to TBS network, already renewed for season 2

Ahead of Snowpiercer‘s series debut, WarnerMedia has officially renewed the dystopian thriller for a second season, Deadline confirmed. In addition, it was also announced that the series adaptation has been moved from TNT to the TBS network and is now scheduled to make its premiere in the spring of 2020.

“We’re going to be more flexible in our programming strategy to go where the audience is and use every programming tool and asset we have to maximize delivery and connection,” President of TBS, TNT and Chief Creative Officer Turner and Direct-to-Consumer, Kevin Reilly said on decision to transfer the series. “TBS, TNT and TruTV are stronger if we’re less bound by a single brand position or genre.”

“Snowpiercer is the perfect show to kick-off TBS’ entry into dramas with intricate storytelling, stunning visuals and first-class acting,” General manager for TBS and TNT, Brett Weitz said. “We believe in the longevity of this series and that audiences will be amazed by the fantastical world that brings to life such relevant social, political and environmental issues.”

While the film starred Chris Evans, Tilda Swinton, John Hurt and Ed Harris (The Truman Show); the series will star Jennifer Connelly (LabyrinthHulk), Daveed Diggs (BlindspottingHamilton) and Mickey Sumner (Frances HaAmerican Made). They will be joined by Susan Park, Benjamin Haigh, Sasha Frolova, Katie McGuinness, Sam Otto, Alison Wright, Annalise Basso, Sheila Vand, Roberto Urbina, Lena Hall and Rowan Blanchard.
