McG’s True Lies TV series headed to Disney+
Speaking with Collider director McG has revealed that the TV adaptation of True Lies that we heard about back in 2017 is in development at Disney+, the new streaming service from the Walt Disney Company set to debut in November.
“Well right now my new thing for television is I’m doing True Lies at Disney+,” McG said. “Which is exciting. I’m writing that one, which is very exciting, because I’m so passionate about that story where you think you know your partner but you don’t.”

The filmmaker went on to say that he is going to spend the summer writing the script and keeping the door open for Arnold Schwarzenegger’s involvement.
“There’s talk of that,” he said. “It’s largely rebooted but there may be a spot there, we’ll see.”
Directed by James Cameron, who will return as executive producer on the TV series, the film True Lies took in a worldwide total of $378.8 million and also starred Tom Arnold, Bill Paxton, Charlton Heston, Tia Carrere and Eliza Dushku. It was a remake of the French comedy La Totale! from 1991.
Curtis won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy and the Saturn Award for Best Actress for her role in the film. Cameron won the Saturn Award for Best Director. It was also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects.
