Many fans already know that Spider-Man: Far From Home is going to take place after the events of Avengers: Endgame. Even though Avengers: Infinity War has a lot of characters turning to dust after the snap thanks to Thanos, fans didn’t really believe that it’s over for characters like Black Panther, Doctor Strange and Spider-Man. However, once Avengers: Endgame was released in theaters, there were some fans who were confused as to what they saw.

Spoilers Ahead for Avengers: Endgame

Surprise! Peter Parker returns in Avengers: Endgame to help the Avengers take on Thanos and his army. The Hulk was able to snap all the people back from non-existence, and Iron Man snapped to remove Thanos and his army from taking over Earth. We then see a shot of Peter Parker and Ned in high school, looking happy that everything is sort of back to normal. Because of this, some fans were confused to see Ned still in high school and not in college if Avengers: Endgame takes place five years after the events of Avengers: Infinity War.

Avengers: Endgame directors Anthony and Joe Russo have been making the rounds to answer lots of questions regarding the latest film in the MCU.

“So…Ned disappeared as well,” Joe Russo tells EW. “That’s the two of them seeing each other for the first time after having disappeared.”

“That doesn’t mean that everyone that they went to high school with didn’t disappear,” Joe said.

“There could be kids who are now much older than them and no longer in high school,” Joe added. “But Ned and he both disappeared and are returning in that moment.”

So far it’s looking like all the supporting characters close to Peter Parker were victims of the snap like Zendays as M.J., Angourie Rice as Betty Brant, and Tony Revolori as Flash Thompson. Nick Fury will also make an appearance in Spider-Man: Far From Home, and he was also a victim of the snap (as seen during after the end credits of Avengers: Infinity War).

Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige has said that Spider-Man: Far From Home will be the end to Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Many initially thought it would be Avengers: Endgame.

Spider-Man: Far From Home will follow Peter Parker’s trip to Europe as he confronts a new “hero” named Mysterio. Along the way, he’ll team up with Nick Fury and get a new suit.

Jon Watts, who directed Spider-Man: Homecoming, returns for the sequel. The film stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Zendays as MJ, Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan, Marisa Tomei as May Parker, Jacob Batalon as Ned, and Jake Gyllenhaal as Quentin Beck/Mysterio.

Spider-Man: Far From Home swings into theaters on July 2, 2019
