Kitana officially revealed as playable character in Mortal Kombat 11

Mortal Kombat 11 Kitana

Kitana has been teased in previous trailers for Mortal Kombat 11, and now NetherRealm Studios is making it official with a new Mortal Kombat 11 TV spot that reveals she will be a playable character. The spot features gamers of all types walking towards the camera and channeling their inner Mortal Kombat characters complete with special effects. One gamer transforms into Kitana as she is being confronted by Scorpion.

The Mortal Kombat characters in the upcoming game all have had a major facelift, and NetherRealm Studios is doing the same with Kitana. We saw the studio going for a more realistic approach with the facial animation and models with Injustice 2, and the new style is looking great for the many Mortal Kombat kombatants.

WBIE brought Create Advertising Group, director Joe Sill and Plastic Wax on board to bring the TV spot to life to capture the message that players can become their favorite characters in Mortal Kombat 11. A player is seen walking, and as the shadow hits, we see a new player taking their place.

Kitana is a 10,000-year-old princess of Edenia who is Shao Kahn’s adoptive daughter. She then found out the truth about her father and decided to take actions against him by teaming up with the fighters from Earthrealm. That ultimately led to her death, and she became an evil revenant who rules the Netherrealm with the help of revenant Liu Kang. Once interesting is that in the TV spot, we get to see her as a non-revenant. With the upcoming game dealing with time, let’s hope there’s a happy ending where both she and Liu Kang can return back to normal.

Confirmed playable characters for Mortal Kombat 11 include  Scorpion, Raiden, Sub-Zero, Sonya Blade, Skarlet, Baraka, Geras, Kano, D’Vorah, Kabal, Jade, Johnny Cage, Cassie Cage, Erron Black, Jacqui Briggs, Kotal Kahn, Noob Saibot, Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Jax Briggs, Cetrion, The Kollector and Kitana,

Mortal Kombat 11 will be available on April 23, 2019, for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. Those who pre-order the game will get Shao Kahn as a playable character.
