HBO miniseries I Know This Much Is True adds six more to cast

Deadline reports that Academy Award-winning actress Melissa Leo (The Fighter), Rosie O’Donnell (SMILF), Archie Panjabi (The Good Wife), Imogen Poots (Roadies), Juliette Lewis (Camping) and Kathryn Hahn (Mrs. Fletcher) have ojoined Golden Globe nominee Mark Ruffalo (Avengers: Endgame) in HBO’s  miniseries I Know This Much Is True. Based on Wally Lamb’s best-selling novel of the same name, the six-episode limited drama series will also be executive produced by Ruffalo.

Written, directed and executive produced by Derek Cianfrance, I Know This Much Is True will be a family saga that follows the parallel lives of identical twin brothers Dominick and Thomas Birdsey, both played by Ruffalo, in an epic story of betrayal, sacrifice and forgiveness set against the backdrop of 20th century America.

Leo is set to portray the role of the twin brothers’ mother named Concettina Ipolita Tempesta Birdsey while O’Donnell will be playing Lisa Sheffer, a social worker at the Hatch Forensic Institute.

Panjabi and Poots are playing the characters of Thomas’ new psychologist Dr. Patel and Dominick’s live-in girlfriend Joy Hanks, respectively. Meanwhile Lewis will be playing role of Nedra Frank, a self-absorbed grad student hired by Dominick with Hahn portraying Dominick’s ex-wife Dessa Constantine.

Ruffalo will pull triple duty by executive producing and starring in the series as the aforementioned twins. Lamb will produce alongside the actor, FilmNation Entertainment’s Ben Browning and Glen Basner, and Gregg Feinberg and Anya Epstein. Lynette Howell Taylor and Jamie Patricof co-executive produced.

Lamb is the author of six bestselling novels: “I’ll Take You There,” “We Are Water,” “Wishin’ and Hopin’,” “The Hour I First Believed,” “I Know This Much Is True,” and “She’s Come Undone.” Lamb also edited “Couldn’t Keep It to Myself” and “I’ll Fly Away.”
