It has been rumored that Avengers: Endgame will be around three hours long, making it the longest film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now we have the Russo brothers saying that they believe the final film will clock in at 3 hours and 58 seconds. Yes, that 58 seconds must be very crucial.
“I think it’s three hours and fifty-eight seconds,” Avengers: Endgame co-director Joe Russo tells ComicBook.com. “We just sped up the credits is what we did,” he said with a laugh.
During CinemaCon, it was a big event for Disney. It previewed a bunch of footage for Aladdin, The Lion King, Dark Phoenix, and the first 17 minutes of Toy Story 4. In addition, audiences made up of theater owners and media were treated to sneak peek clips of Avengers: Endgame. One of the clips was released today during Good Morning America, and it featured some of the surviving members discussing a plan of action against Thanos.
The brothers didn’t even know Disney was going to be showing off some of the footage.
“We didn’t even know they were showing that, by the way,” Joe Russo said.
The brothers did talk about the dynamic between the different Avengers members, and how certain actions affect the next film.
“You’ll see this from movie to movie for us, for Joe and I in the MCU,” Anthony Russo said. “We really strongly commit to the storytelling that’s come before. We strongly commit to what’s happened to those characters in Winter Soldier, to the dividing of the Avengers in Civil War and the destruction of the relationship between Tony and Steve. The same way, we’re committing to the end of Infinity War. What we do is we track how each of those characters who survived, what is their relationship to those events? How do they move forward from that moment? How do they move forward, individually? Collectively? How do you deal with defeat as a superhero?”
Official Synopsis: The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, “Avengers: Endgame.”
The film is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo from the screenplay by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely.
Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26, 2019.
