Team Ninja’s Dead or Alive 6 is hitting store shelves this Friday, and the latest entry will have plenty of activities for players hankering for solo modes. Dead or Alive 5 is known for having a lot of costumes available for purchase with real money, which can add up to more than $600. With Dead or Alive 6, extra costumes will definitely be available for purchase, but you’ll be able to unlock some of the available costumes by actually playing the game.
Dead or Alive 6 has modes like Story, Online, Training, Fight and DOA Central. The mode where you will be doing most of the costume unlocking is DOA Quest. There are 96 quests available, each containing 3 missions to complete. Each mission will have you unlocking a DOA Encyclopedia or earning in-game coins to buy the unlocked costumes in DOA Central.
You’ll need to clear all three missions from each quest to earn costume pattern parts. These costume patterns are random, so you can’t just go in, choose a character to play and hope that their costumes will be unlocked. Yeah, it sucks since there are 24 characters from the initial Wardrobe menu, each with their own set of costumes. That means you’ll need to keep on grinding and hopefully unlock the costume pattern parts. Certain costumes will need a certain amount of costume pattern parts, and if you get enough, you can go to DOA Central and purchase the unlocked costumes.
All except one of the female fighters have 5 available costumes, each with 3 different color variations. NiC0 has only 3 costumes with 3 different color variations. All the male fighters have 2 costumes, each with 3 different variations. If you unlock an outfit, it will only unlock one variation of the outfit. That means if you want a different color, you’ll have to keep on playing until you get it. Gamers who are used to unlocking outfits from other video games will understand the grind, especially the previous Dead or Alive games.
There will be more costumes available, but those will need to be purchased. The first season pass for Dead or Alive 6 will have 62 new costumes, and they include DOA6 Happy Wedding Costumes Vol. 1 and 2, DOA6 New Costumes set Vol. 1 and 2, and 5 costumes each for the two SNK characters.
On a side note, the game has the options of turning on and off the violence and costume damage as well as the anatomy physics for female fighters.
Dead or Alive 6 will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on March 1, 2019.
