We already know that LG Electronics President and Chief Technology Officer Dr. I.P. Park will be the keynote speaker at CES 2019, which brings some added pressure for LG to impress the tech industry with something new and innovative. It seems that they plan to do just that by showing off a new rollable OLED television.
Engadget was the first to report that LG plans on showcasing this new TV along with a foldable phone from LG internal documents that they have gotten a hold of. We have already seen their prototype a few years ago of the rollable OLED, along with Samsung’s foldable phone in past CES, but LG might be ready to launch their new tech to consumers within the next year.
With competition from Japanese brand Sony when it comes to their OLED televisions and Korean brand Samsung for their mobile phones, LG looks to really be stepping it up with their plans for CES 2019. This will make this year’s CES more important than ever with the “Cold War-type” environment in the tech world.
As each company tries to outshine the other, LG seems to be staying on par if not ahead of its competitors. It will be interesting to see what else they are planning to showcase at the upcoming 2019 CES.
